TO BE OR NOT TO BE?
Psychosomatic and psychodrama
“To be, or not to be: that is the question: Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind to suffer
the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing end them?” W. Shakespeare, Hamlet (III. act)
That was also the question and the soliloquy of many of my psychosomatic patients. Is it worth to live this life with all the pain and suffering? Or is it better to “ take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing end them?”
In this workshop I will demonstrate how we took arms and turned the hopeless static position into a creative life worth living. Hamlet asked an actor’s company to enact a play about what was behind his troubles.
In my psychodrama groups the patients played out what was behind their diseases. The spiral process of psychodrama helped to find the origin of the symptom building and the connections with the painful traumatic life events.
In this workshop you can experience the method and techniques we developed in my psychosomatic work:
Building the bridge between body and soul create a dialog between you and your symptoms.
How does your symptom/s influence your life?
*Mentalisation can transform the physical symptom into mental levels:
*Differentiating and expressing of feelings;
*Developing functioning roles instead of the dominating and overdeveloped psychosomatic role/s;
*Elaborate the traumatic events
*Salutogenic approach – replay and relive the health history- the situations when everything was joyful and perfect.
*Systemic approach – Repair the support system
*Role training and role development of the underdeveloped roles or/and building up the missing roles.
*Surplus reality/Redoing – how things could have happened
